On capture video stops????

Hey VV3 users,
A problem i get once in a while is: When i am capturing, not advance but regular capturing, the audio stops and the computer keeps capturing. This has happened a few times, i then restart the computer and try again and it go through fine. What is causing this audio and video to stop capturing? When i stop the CAPTURE; the bin comes up with video captured before the audio stops.

What i mean what audio stops is that the sound no longer comes through my computer speakers on capture.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

thx

I get the same somtimes going to a fire wire drive, i guess it can not hack it.
When capturing to interenal drive all seems well.

Are you capturing DV?

Are the finished captured clips ok (despite the glitchy audio preview during the capture process)?

Thank you SonicEPM getting back to me,
i am capturing DV. The sound is not glitchy but stops during capture and the capture screen is frozen at the FRAME the data is not being captured.

Are you runnring any antivirus software or any software that would grab any CPU time? If so, you might disable any background program that is not needed so the PC is not tied up with anything other than your capture. Are you capturing to a second drive? If not, you might consider it.

good luck,
