That may have been me (don't remember if I admitted it or not). I assisted a friend with editing/shooting a short but we didn't even receive so much as an acknowledgment of receipt of our submission.
From this, I drew several possible conclusions:
1. The short was so horrible, they immediately "round-filed" it.
2. It never made it there because my friend is administratively challenged.
3. It was the victim of copyright issues
I'm leaning toward #3. We were up against the submission deadline and still had not obtained a royalty-free track. Despite my warnings that he would be committing eligibility suicide, he settled on a song recorded by a well known (Sony label) Christian band. He insisted that if he had time he would contact the band directly and (due to the faith-based subject matter of the short) they would authorize the use. I know I know I know what you're thinking....I tried....believe me...I tried.
Anyway, I'm playing hooky from a filmmaking class tonight to catch the premier.
I posted my submission here. Watched tonight bitter as can be. =)
The one I posted was called " A Parody of Me". Not sure that's the one you're thinkin of or not. Didn't get a call or even a generic blow off email, nuttin, but whatcha gonna do?
