I've looked in the manual. I've searched the forum--that doesn't mean it's not there--I just can't find it anywhere.
When fading media in Vegas it automatically fades to a black level of 0. I'd like to set it to 16. I did that in v.4, but I'm using 5 now and I can't remember where I went to adjust it. In v.5...
I went to "Options" in the menu bar;
Then I selected "Prefrences" at the bottom;
Then clicked on the "Video" tab;
And selected "Default track fade colors."
I set the black to 16 and the white to 235, but it doesn't appear to have any effect on the fades.
For example, in one event track I have some footage. I then inserted some black slug (set at 16) and over lapped it with the footage 30 frames for a one second fade. On the event track above that, I have a background jpeg for a title graphic. I have faded that in by using the upper corners and clicking and dragging into the media for 30 frames. That is creating a fade to 0 black. When viewed, you can see the difference between the two. (Does that make any sense to anyone?) I know it was discussed here a long time ago, I just can't find the thread.
If anyone could tell me where to find the adjustment in v.5 so that all fades will be to 16, rather than 0, I'd appreciated it very much!

I did find this from Sony EMP:
Your best bet is to create a video track at the bottom of all the other video tracks, and put a black solid color generator on that track at the level you need...
Seems kind of an odd way around the problem... but hey, if it works...!
