Only Audio - No Video, even after codec

Hello,

I just installed my sony vegas 9 pro. I get no video on any of my clips. I get only audio. After searching the internet, this seems like a common problem - but the codec solution does not seem to work. I tried K light and reinstalling - no luck.

I also get an error when I open up my vegas - some progra~1 file that isnt found.

Any suggestions, Im really lost with it?

Joe

Vegas can only access VFW compatible codecs. Some video codecs aren't backwardly compatible with VFW and thus aren't compatible with Vegas. When this is the case, a video clip using such a codec will play fine in media player, but the video portion will not show up on a Vegas timeline.

Instead of installing codec "packages," which often do more harm than good, you need to identify which specific codec you need for your files. Your problem will likely be solved if you will take a rifle approach rather than a shotgun approach to your problem.

You will possibly have to roll back your computer to before the codec "package" installation and also possibly have to re-install your Sony applications. K-lite is notorious for trashing video applications.

There is a tutorial here that was written just to get you started down the right path:
