Only hissing audio on 'Capture Video'

I am trying to capture video and audio from a VHS tape using composit input. The video captures OK, but I only get hissing from the audio. I've trying various settings in the 'Creative Sound Blaster PCI Properties' dialog box but can't seem to get it to 'turn on'.

Any help is appreciated ...

Depending upon what version of windows you are using (although they all might be this way). YOu have a PLAYBACK setup and a RECORD setup. You will hear the audio on Playback, but you may not be recording it. Go to the record setup and make sure that LINE IN is enabled.
