Open DML?

I understand that type 2 avi files are Open DML because of the dialog in my render box. But I don't understand what DML has to do with video. I thought DML stood for Domain Modeling Language? If so, how does this apply to video. The only reason I ask is because I want to know why Power Point can't open type 2 files and how all that relates to DML

Please don't confuse DV Type-2 with AVI 2.0 <g>. OpenDML is not related to Domain Modeling Language.

I can't confuse them because I don't understand either one. I've searched all over the web for type2 avi, Open DML, and can't find anything really explaning either of them. I found Data Manipulation Laguage too for DML, but nothing open DML.
Can you explain it to a dummy like me?

OpenDML = Open Digital Media Consortium.

OpenDML AVI was their way of fixing problems with the original AVI specification (such as file size and the ability to handle interlaced content). It's done in such a way that older readers can still get at the first 2G of the data.

OpenDML AVI File Format Extensions (.pdf)

Type-1 and Type-2 AVI / DV refers to whether there is a single stream of DV (audio & video, so called Type-1) or a separate audio steam (Type-2).
