The new 2021 upgrade-path announced for Vegas Movie Studio license-holders is pretty attractive, so I'm finally about to join the party! For just $149, I can move up to Vegas Pro 18/19 Edit, so now I'm ready for some premium OpenFX add-ons:
1. FXhome's HitFilm Pro + Ignite Pro bundle:
Unfortunately, the bundled version of FXhome's Ignite Advanced VFX pack only allows installation on one computer. But their current promotional package price of $437 for the full-versions of both products seems a pretty good deal at 32.5%-off. A definite buy!
2. NewBlue Elements 3 Overlay + Transitions 5 Glow + Transitions 5 Flow:
Love Elements' collection of ADO-like DVE effects. I got lucky and received it with my VMS 17 Platinum purchase. Thankfully, NewBlue grants at least two licenses in the Magix-bundled version of the product. As for transitions, I wouldn't use most of the wipes/effects in their Transitions 5 collection; the only ones I'm interested in is Transitions 5 Glow for its RGB-shift effect/white-out effects, and Transitions 5 Flow for its abstract image-warping potential.
3. BorisFX' Stylize Unit:
Another bundled effects unit, a subset of Boris' Continuum Pack. Really like this unit and was happy to get this as part of another VMS bundle (I own two VMS licenses). The complete Continuum pack sells for a whopping $695. A bit steep (plus I'm only interested in a few units), so I'll wait for a Black Friday promotion to possibly acquire the complete Continuum product.
4. Vegasaur: Particulas, Film Grain, Light Leaks.
Somewhat of a boutique developer compared with the mega-library from ActionVFX. Their Particulas floating-dust media pack looks great and is a fraction of the price of ActionVFX' clip-libraries at only $39.95. may combine this purchase with their FIlm Grain and Light Leaks media packs for the three-item discount.
