Opening file error

mark003 wrote on 10/19/2005, 7:48 PM
I'm getting an error when opening a file. Actually multiple files.

"warning: an error occured while loading the project file. The file is an unsupported format."

And

"an error occurred while loading the project Dancing.veg. The item was not found."

I can see the veg file and they are 79kb and 66 kb.

Any help would be appreciated!

Mark

You might be missing codecs, you might need Quicktime...what's different on the computer that saved the file vs the one that's opening it? (If any?)
Otherwise, you may have installed software that messed with your codecs?

"warning: an error occured while loading the project file. The file is an unsupported format."

This is usually caused when trying to open a Vegas 6 project in Vegas 5 (or any previous version).

What version of Vegas are you using? Where did you get the VEG files?

A friend have same problem.
It is a V5 project.
Opening with V5 hangs at 46%
Opening with V6 give error “cannot open… item not found”
I opened the .veg file with a hexa editor and it seem to be corrupted (there are only ‘0’ at end of file).
My friend recovered his project with the .BAK file, but after some work the problem is back.
I asked him to send project file to Sony support.

Yep that's exactly what's happening! I'll trouble shoot some more! Thanks

I just had a similar problem - I was creating a new project using media from an older version.  I re-installed the software and then recreated the new project AFTER removing a (now) unsupported add-in.  I suspect the latter add in was the problem all along.  All is well now!
