Opening screen and Transitions (Movie Studio 14.0 Platinum)

Michael-Furlonger wrote on 5/16/2019, 10:22 AM

I'm working on a video project. I want to start the video like turning on a TV whereas the screen opens progressively with light from the middle to the ends (like turning on an old TV set). I also want to make a transition like changing TV channels with a line in the middle. Finally, I want to have a closing transition of a TV turning off. I've looked up the features on Movie Studio 14 Platinum, but I don't know how to make an active transition using the Elliptical Transparent To Black or the Rectangular Transparent to Black. Any suggestions?

I would not know what you exactly try to make. Something like this for the first question?

That's not quite what I'm looking for.Is there a way to make a smooth transition?

Make it longer?

What I mean is the video link that you sent seems like it's cut size by size by size. I was hoping that it could be a smooth transition from small to large.

I did it not by a transition but with the track option called trackmotion. I don't know how long it takes that your old TV screen is opening but that you are able to regulate by keyframeplaces in the option.
When you want it very slow I show now the same without a backgrong wiih a noise effect at the event.

So how did you make the second one transition so smoothly?

j-v wrote on 5/17/2019, 3:47 PM

Like I said before I don't use any transition but it is the option Trackmotion(1) that is visible in the trackheader. That option is used with so called keyframes(2)

If you don't know what it all can do RTFM

I had a couple projects I created a tv turning on effect and a channel change effect for them. I made the tv turn on in hitfilm and I tweaked the static with the tv simulator in vegas for the channel change. You could also reverse the tv turn on for a tv turn off, the static animation ends at a point so make sure not to use the full length. I'm making the files available here for a period of time, anyone who wants them feel free to use them.

Thank you Dimitrios. Unfortunately I’m away from my computer until Tuesday. How did you make the opening screen? And how do you reverse it?

Dimitrios wrote on 5/19/2019, 10:30 PM

I made it in hitfilm, which is a free program and the free version could do it. I made it by animating a mask on a solid white plane and then used fractal noise, similar to the noise textures in vegas but a bit better I think. To reverse a clip in vegas right click on it and there should be an option
