You can't. Vegas Movie Studio can open any older .vf files from Vegas Movie Studio, but it can't open .veg files from the full version of Vegas, no matter which version.

On the other hand, the full version of Vegas can open both .veg and .vf files.

However all your old work might not be totally wasted: some times you can cheat a little, as it - depending on the media - can be possible to copy/paste parts of/the full timelines from an older/fuller version to VMSP.

Give it a try: select all in Vegas5 with CTRL+A and CTRL+C and (try to) paste it into VMSP with CTRL+V...

(Corrected after Mike pointed out my oversight. Tks Mike)

Before doing the Paste, you'll need to Copy to the Clipboard (Ctrl-C).

Thanks for the tips ... but unfortunately I dont have that vegas5 anymore. Is there noway to convert the veg files to vfs?? I'm sure I havehad previous VMS versions that I had downloaded as trials that could open veg files? Is this a recent thing sony has introduced to water down VMS?
If there's no way to convert files, the only thing I can think of is to download a trial of vegas pro, and then go through all my projects and follw the procedure you guys have outlined? (there is no 'save as' option in vegas pro that allows you to save project files as vf files?).

Thanks for your help.

Nope, the Studio version has never been able to open .veg files, not in any version. And there's no "save as .vf" either, since the pro version's projects contain features that don't exist in the studio version.

I can't see trying the demo of the pro version hurting anything. Don't get your hopes up about it working extremely well, but you'll probably get enough transferred over to make it worthwhile.

worst comes to worst i can use the trial of pro to open my old veg projects, render them as avi files with project markers included, and then use VMS to open them as a new vf project?

Yep. You'll lose the ability to work with the edits you had in the Vegas 5 project, but that's not a disaster.

... or try to copy/paste the project from the Full Vegas trial version to your VMSP - then you will be able to edit it.
