operation not supported by this drive

I am having a problem with burning a dvd, how can i make just a dvd i can watch in my home dvd player??, what settings do i use, everytime i try to burn it says "operation not supported by this drive", HELP PLEASE what settings do i need to set it at to watch it in my home dvd player??

Some more details sure would help!
Are you certain you're trying to burn the DVD in a DVD burner?
Failing that what type of DVDs are you using, make and model number of burner. Can you burn any kind of DVD or even CD in this burner using any software etc, etc.
