i'm looking at buying the classondemand.net V4 editing workshop dvds. how many of you have them and what's your opinion? i couldn't find anything doing a search for feedback on the dvds. maybe i used the wrong keywords - maybe because it hasn't been out long.

i'm a newbie to V4 (even though i had V3 for a while, but no time) and video editing so i thought this might be good.

The DVDs are excellent, especially for a beginner. DSEs teaching style is clear and not like he's talking down to you at all. The production quality is decent enough for what you need, the screen shots are good, too. The range of topics covered is quite good. You'll get a really good feel for what Vegas can do, plus you get some insight on things you may not have thought of, like preference settings. The only issue I've seen is with playback quality on some players and computers. There's some jittery motion or "skipping" but I didn't have a problem on mine, and Class On Demand has been on the case trying to clear it up. In short, thumbs up all the way. You won't be sorry.

I have to agree, the Class On Demand DVD's are great for new users of Vegas. I am actually a pretty experienced user of vegas and I had my work purchase a set to train some new users of Vegas. Now they know how to use it, and I also watched the enire set and even as an advanced user I still learned some new stuff off of them as well. I would highly reccomend them for all users of vegas, wether you're just starting out, or even if you have been using the program for years like I have.

Hi fellas,

I have just got the 4 DVDs pack! Until now, I've seen 2 of 4 DVDs... (discs 1 and 3) I'm sending you some feedback... and asking you a question...

1. Sometimes the image freezes for one or two seconds, but it does not affect the overall view, since the audio plays well... I'm playing the DVDs in a LG model.

2. SPOT's presention is effective and friendly. Nice :) Besides that, SPOT's pronunciation is clear for non English speakers. I'm brazilian (my English level is intermediate) and I could understand every word he said.

3. The topics are all relevant, but sometimes a bit "incomplete". For exemple: SPOT mentioned the possibility of using a joystick to control the sorround panning, but didn't show how to do it!

4. The topic about "Buses" is too superficial. As SPOT mentioned, mixing can be subject of a new complete course... I hope SPOT is going to develop a course covering advanced audio techniques.

5. The explanation about the differences between an OHCI-Compliant IEEE 1394 and a proprietary 1394 is very important.

6. The topics covering Vegas configuration are also good. In fact their are the "base" for the system reliability.

7. The topic covering the function "Open a copy in Sound Forge" is VERY COOL. I didn't know that after saving a file in Sound Forge, you have just to press "T" in the keyboard to alter between takes in the Vegas time line... Simple and GREAT!

8. The section about Noise Reduction is extremely relevant. Using the SPOT's tips, I got amazing results in recorded voices noise reduction... It can do magic...

9. I also noticed that the resolution of the image is nice! I could see (and read) any Vegas menu options in my TV set.

;-D

I am one of the few that had a problem with the DVDs and they immediately shipped me the set on VHS (no cost to me) to use until the problem is resolved.
Spot did a great job too!

I had a problem with the DVD's as well, but I just kept them anyway. Luckily I work at a video duplication house so I have access to many diffrent DVD players. I just put them in all of the players untill I found one that played them without any glitches. They also work fine if you play them in a DVD-ROM drive.
