Opteron 64-bit processors and Vegas

Does anyone know anything about the compatibility of Vegas 5 with 64 bit processor systems like one with the Opteron chips? I want to build a new host machine to run Vegas. Right now I use a Pentium 4 - 2.4ghz PC with 2GB DDR, etc... I'd like to move to a dual Opteron 64-bit system but don't know if Vegas is ready for it. Anyone in the know???

Thanks.

Sony demos Vegas on systems from Boxx that use Opterons.

Vegas is not optimized for 64-bit code, but Opterons work quite nicely with 32-bit.

one of the sony guys in a recent AMD vs Intel post said he uses duel opty's.

I'd personly like to get those. You could also get the 64-bit windows. that would help in performance a little.

Another thing to note is that intel is basing their desktop 64-bit CPU on the AMD specs. they are because Microsoft told intel they aren't making a special OS for intel 64-bit (besides the itianium) & if intel wants MS Windows compatibility they must follow the AMD specs.
