Before I place an order there's a line in red next to the price that says 'backordered until 12/15/01' - Does that mean they won't ship it until that date?
All I saw on SF site is Vegas 3/video. Is there a Vegas 3 Audio, and if so, has anyone had any luck convincing SF or the retailer where they purchased it to "give" them the upgrade if they bought the old version close to the time new version was introduced? I bought Vegas audio 2.0 at the end of August.
I ordered the boxed version, but at you mentioned it will not be available until the middle of December... is it possible to get an extension on the Beta version, since I only have six days left on it??
Any more info on this thread? My beta version only has 3 more days. I'd download it in a second if I could figure out how without paying again. Any insights?
...I spoke to Sonic Foundry and I was told the program is set to expire (set by V.V.) at the end of the month. But, it was also suggested to download V.V. Beta again just prior to the expiration date and it would last an additional 7 days...hopefully long enough so the boxed version shows up at my door!!!
Unlikely. Software manufacturers' protection schemes are usually a lot more sophisticated than that. In fact, some protection schemes won't allow access to the program at all if this is attempted -- even if you set it back.
Not to infuriate ppl who bought the boxed version. But next time I recommend downloading. You can get the content CD shipped for the cost of shipping as part of the order. Only reason not to do this is if you want the hard manual.
No - Another reason to buy the box version is cause then you have your own registration number and don't have to go through the activation code. Meaning - If you downloaded a code before and you have to format your computer that activation code won't work and you have to buy a new one - what's the point at that???
I format all the time. I've never run into an issue with re-registering. It's fast and painless, and I have no problem with it. From what I understand, when people have had problems, one phone call quickly resolves the problem.
The content CD contains ( I think) samples, and other "bonuses" that are too big to download.
Example, my Acid Pro was purchased via download.
You get the FULL program, plug-ins included, but the loop CD is shipped separately. You only pay the shipping charge for the CD. In my case, I even skipped the loop CD because shipping here (Canada) would have cost more than buying a loop CD here.
Also, I believe SF doesn't supply manuals other than PDF format anymore, even if you puchased a boxed copy. You download that too.
I downloaded the accompanying Sound Forge XP and Vegas Audio LE, they supplied activation codes for those.
I've re-formatted a couple times now, downloaded the updates, and I've never had a problem getting the activation codes. Keep in mind that you MUST register. That way SF has your info on file for futur use, and your just a phone call away from re-activation.
