DONT ATTEND THE VEGAS VASST SEMINARS!!!
That is if you dont like :
learning, discussing, refining your skills and workflow, meeting new fellow editors and professionals (deep breath)and getting a bunch of free goodies to add to your tool box arsenal.
PLUS a chance to win some great prizes,I won the Pixelan Spice Filters (how cool is that !! always wanted them just didnt have the $$$).
and I almost had the AMD processor too, but the guy who won it outran me in the parking lot ! ; ).
Between the goodies, the prize I won it actually made the addmision price an unbeatable deal!
Above all the new things I learn't (that's a new word Spot teach-ded us)(inside joke),
the other thing that Spot and Gary gave me was Inspiration.
Inspiration to learn even 1/2 the things they know, and above all to expirement and try new things and ideas in Vegas and DVD A.
after all you cant break em: ).
Thanks Manny,Spot and Gary
Great job!!!

Eric

My feelings exactly! I was at the Seattle session last Friday and it was amazing. There is so much to learn, but the enthusiasm of the teachers makes the class great. I felt drained after that long day but still came home and fired up Vegas so I could try the things from the class. I noticed that within the hour of the class ending, Spot was back in this forum answering questions. Good luck with Spice filters. I won them in Seattle.

One point on the cost of the sessions. I am amazed that they are as cheap as they are because they need to cover transportation, lodging for the crew and additional charges for all the equipment they carry. Not to mention the cost of the equipment as well. Yes, I know they are sponsered by some of the equipment manufacturers, but still putting on these sessions is not cheap.
Oops, I left out the rental of the training room.

My thanks again to the VASST team.

I agree fully with ALL the above statements. I won the bella keyboard at the NYC stop. I can hardly wait till it gets here. That on top of me using my contour shuttle pro 2 and my microsoft trackball explorer mouse will be awesome. Definitely a mackie controller in the future.

Geez guys, thanks for the kind words. We just arrived in Atlanta, where we're excited not only to wrap the US portion of the tour, but also to end the tour with Ed Troxel, Gary, Tim Duncan, and myself all together as well as meet all the folks here in Atlanta.
We've had a lot of fun, and looking forward to Toronto, Honolulu, and the Asian/Australian legs of the tour.
Reading these kinds of posts makes the long flights, late nights, and heavy gear moving worth the effort in more ways than you can possibly know.
This is the third Vegas tour we've done, and by far the most rewarding because Vegas has so many new users. We've met dozens from the various forums, and it's so cool to know what faces go with what forum names. In Orlando alone, we met 8-9 people from the forums. Fleshpainter, epirb, Gabe, VicMilt, and many others. (BTW Vic, GREAT, GREAT! book. I read most of it on the flight from Orlando to Atlanta. (we were delayed by weather, hence the 2:00 a.m. arrival in Atlanta)
Looking forward to the next one coming not to far off, not to mention the Sound Forge tour in September with Jeffrey Fisher.
Thanks for those so far that have made the tour so much fun. It's kinda sad to see it ending already. (in the US)

Next time you could hold the Orlando meeting at my place... and I promise I won't charge any more than the going rate.

Amen to all above - super seminar - great teachers - and they kept on point at all times - covering a huge range of topics.
Definitely recommended!
Spot - your knowledge is vasst (sic) indeed - it's a pleasure to sit in a class with you at the front - and it was great to be in a roomful of Vegas ubergeeks - fun to give and get specialized advice. It was truly a live session of this forum.
Thanx for a great time (now how will I use those 3D multi-track Poppa, Momma and baby configurations???? Hmmmm..... at least I know what they are!
btw... that great, Great, GREAT book that Spot mentions (thanx Spot!) is one I recently wrote called Quit Whining! You can check it out at www.quitwhining.net - sorry for my own unabashed plug - but who could resist? Especially with a whiny crowd like this forum??? :>)

Orlando was great! Good team work....and spot was great as a speaker. Especially spot's discussion about sound issues..., if you do not work in the field, this is must do training! Just wish we had a 3-day class!

I'd like to echo what Spot said and add my own thanks to everyone who came out to see us. It's especially fun when I can add faces to the names I see on the forums.

Thanks,
Gary
