I heard there was goin to be a new MS OS end of this or beginning of next year, and not an "XP2", or, at least, it's gonna be under a different name..? anybody else..? also, there's been some talk about fanless towers (and less "moving parts" per se); some aspects are now built into the towers themselves...anybody heard that also..? still stickin with 98SE, 5.5sp2, WMA7.1, etc., but I see I could get more than twice the power I got now with my 1.7 AMD at the same price I paid for about a year ago...OS-wise, I'm not sure how SOFO prods do, I know my 98SE is wonderful still, but getting a new motherbo, stickin with AMD, serial ATA hard drives...looks like I may have to jump to somethin more than 98SE after all, and that would suck...my experience with XP is not good, except in schools...

It's called Windows .NET , and is an extension of XP with some extra stuff thrown into the core. Want a copy ? Just kidding, but I have an early version in front of me as I speak....

The next microsoft upgrade for end-users OS is going to be in many years (2006 ?)
They released recently Windows Server 2003 but it is a server os.
But their biggest move was windows 2000, since this OS, they all share the same core.
What problem have you been experiencing with windows XP ?
Most users are very happy with windows XP. Some other people are more happy with windows 2000 pro... Any of them is worth the change towards a win 98 based pc !
On my setup, it is so stable that I don't even need to reboot my DAW for a week (I am using the hibernation to turn it off every day).

I really like 98SE, and have for years now...without getting too detailed I had a major system lockup with my homeXP I purchased from WalMart Nov '01...couldn't do a thing...the techs I got to look at it were befuddled as well, and wiped it all away (except for my stuff), did a clean install 98SE, stayed with WMA7.1, ie5.5sp2, bumped up to DDRam 512, a 1.7+AMD, added 1 more 7200 HD and a sony cd burner and faster cd reader, etc., and I'm just stable as can be now, but Christmas and Jan '02 was hell on earth at the time...just a mess, and I've been thankful ever since and quick to extol the virtues of staying with 98SE and seriously bent on destroying XP and all those who purport, not vindictively or derisively hopefully, realizing there is an agenda there that I will never cowtow to...the next version of XP2 has happened, so we'll see later on maybe...

So the rest of us are really fooling ourselves that XP really does work just fine ?
