OT: A GREAT NIGHT

MUTTLEY wrote on 3/3/2005, 12:35 AM
Wow. Let me first say that last week we got news that the video we had done for artist Brandon Jenkins " Down in Flames " won video of the year in Oklahoma. Great stuff and I was happy as hell.

Here tonight was the Austin Music Network Music Video Awards. Brandon's got nominated as did our video for local artist Ryan DeSiato. Believe it or not we one FIRST and SECOND PLACE ! Brandon's placing first and Ryan's taking second. Frigging amazing, I'm just overwhelmed. There was something like 25 nominees and I honestly was just hoping that one of the vids would win something, anything ! I'm blown away guys.

All I gotta say is thanks Vegas, and thank you guys. Despite all the bickering I've learned so much, practically everything I know, from these here forums and I could never, NEVER, have made anything like this possible without all your help and guidance.

Hugs all around !

- Ray

Congrats for a well deserved award. I remember when you posted links to these videos some time ago. I particularly liked the Ryan DeSiato "Make Believe".

Fantastic news Ray - congratulations - keep 'em coming.

Thankfully the noise seems to be dying down round these parts, and we're getting back to the great community we've been all along .....

It's is nice to see someone get some deserving recognition and I agree it's nice to see something positive getting posted for a change.
The best I've managed is a 3rd prize for something I worked on many, many years ago but I can say, no matter where you go from here, the thrill will be with you forever.

That was an excellent video and Brandon is one very talented guy. After viewing the video on your web site a while ago, I went looking for his CD’s. Congratulations to both of you. Outstanding video with outstanding music. Keep up the good work!

Congrats!

A little off-topic:
Perhaps you should write something to Sony directly. People here sometimes point out that Sony doesn't seem to tout the award-winning projects done in their software. I didn't check your Web site, but mentioning Sony Vegas (in text) on your site in reference to these award-winning videos will help it show up in search engines when people are looking for a good NLE application. Either way, having more award-winning projects can only HELP the Vegas community! Thanks, and congratulations!!!

Awesome and great, Ray! I told you "Down in Flames" was better n' much of what you see on the screen today. Make hay with it, dude. Keep the good stuff coming. And thanks for letting us know.

Only first and second huh.... well maybe next year you can get first and first.
Geez Ray, way to go man!
I was really blown away by "Down in Flames" but I haven't seen the Ryan DeSiato video and can't view it because I'm now on a slow dial-up after recently relocating. Are there any links that allow downloading it?
Congratualations Ray, you must be freaking out, I know I would be!

Thanks all, still pretty thrilled ! One would have been something, but two, that's just crazy talk.

Here are some links for those who missed em, prolly should of done that in the first post but, well I wasn't exactly thinking straight !

For those on highspeed:

Brandon Jenkins - Down In Flames

Ryan DeSiato - Make Believe

And for those on dialup right click and save:

Brandon Jenkins - Down In Flames

Ryan DeSiato - Make Believe

And while I'm not exactly making money yet I thought I might just say to anyone just coming into this, I only really started in video about 2 1/2 years ago or so and am completely self taught. Basically I got the bug, went out and bought a Canon XL1 on a whim, did a bunch of "research" and after comparing my options chose Vegas to be my editing program. Essentially I started from scratch and as I said in my first post, did most of my learning here on the forums. Thats pretty awsome if ya ask me.

Thanks again everyone, you rock !!!

Congrats. Hope you can turn your talent into ca$h. This should open a couple of doors for you, don't you think? I hope so, it seems like you at least have your foot in the door now. Good luck and keep up the good work..

Congratulations. I really like your work.

It has the look of a professional graphic artist, turned video pro.

You should be able to leverage this to start getting some much better paying opportunities.

Let me know if you need any free help with marketing (i.e., a press release, etc.). If the awards are listed anywhere you should get print copies, or at least capture a web page graphic so you can pdf or jpg it and make it available as a link from your site--you don't want to let good press get away.

Call me or e-mail asap (press wants to cover "news" and it gets old quick).
