OT: Acid Music vs. Acid Pro

Vegas friends,

I come to the realization that it would be great to learn to produce original music for my videos. I am comparing Acid Music with Acid Pro. I can already tell you that I'm strongly inclined toward Acid Music, simply because of the price. I have read the comparisons of the two on SoFo's web site. It seems that Acid Music will do most of the things that Acid Pro will do. (I see that MIDI is a part of Pro, but I don't care about that.)

So here's my question: Will Acid Music give me most of what I want? Or will I find to to be nothing more than a teaser that pushes me toward Acid Pro?

Thanks for any input,
David

I think if you are price oriented that you would be satified with Acid Music. Being that you arent interested in midi then you should be okay. Since you apparently have Vegas then you wont need to worry too much about not being able to do videos in acid.
If what you want to do is add some clips mix it up and add effects you'll be pleased with it. ONe VERY beneficial part is the trimmer great for remixing - check to see if that is in Acid Music if so you're goood as gold.

That is, unless you don't want to *create* your own loops too, which only Pro will do...

Thanks for the input. Yes, I am on a limit budget. However, someone on Creative Cow directed me to GuitarCenter.com, where they have Acid Pro on sale for $149!!! Can't beat that!

Just curious. Why loop-based music? What are the merits to loop-based music?

Again. . . just curious.

I generally write out my music with pencil and staff paper, then sequence it. There's some great sequencing programs out there well worth the investigation. Especially for film composition.

I'm modest enough to admit that, while I have a great interest in music, my gifting in this area does not keep up. I believe I have the ability to put together the building blocks you find in loop-based music, but not those you find on a treble clef.
