Adobe is planning a media event on March 27th (Tuesday) to announce Creative Suite 3 pricing and availability. Amazon jumped the gun a little and posted a few pages revealing product specs and pricing for several of the CS3 products with ship dates of April 20th and July 1st, depending on the product.

We've received pricing information for the entire Adobe CS3 line of products and included it in a table below:

CS3 Design Standard $1199.95
CS3 Web Premium $1599.95
CS3 Web Standard $999.95
CS3 Production Premium (up) $1699
CS3 Master Collection $2499
InDesign CS3 $699.95
Photoshop CS3 Extended $999.95
Photoshop CS3 $649.95
Illustrator CS3 $599.95

Fireworks CS3 $299.95

what about upgrade pricing.

Been using all MMedia stuff for years, and I'm sure most people here use photoshop too, so nobody will really have to pay these prices.

Usually you can get all three of these:

Flash CS Professional $699.95
Dreamweaver CS3 $399.95
Fireworks CS3 $299.95

for $400 or less when you upgrade ( even last time around , after Adobe bought MMedia ).

so I'm hoping this : CS3 Web Premium $1599.95 will be around $600 as an upgrade ( that should give you Flash, photoshop, fireworks and dreamweaver, or I may be just dreamweaving here )

I have held off from purchasing CS2, for the main reason that I tried the CS3 beta and liked the features(currently use PS elements and Corel PSP) . the reason I held off from buying CS2 ten upgrading to CS3 is that I read on the Adobe forums that "due to the tremendous improvements and enhancments offered in CS3, the upgrade policy/pricing was going to be different"
Im parphrasing but there was no" warm and fuzzy" about the upgrade by Adobe by those who were inquiring.
HenceI held off, seeing as the elements to CS2 is already substaintial, i woukd hate to spend 400 for an uprgrade then pay anther 500 or something soon after to get CS3 extended.

Ill wait and see where the upgrade $$ are at when released.

The upgrade pricing is in the link I posted above.

Sadly enough, for all the Adobe crap i use now, I need the Master Collection upgrade which I think I can get for $1399 at best, or $1995 at worst. Still, $2k was what I put down on my Mustang convertible last month.

Encore CS3 will have BD authoring which pretty much decides the format for me even though Id still like to have HD DVD as an option. After Effects CS3 and Photoshop CS3 Extended are supposed to be MAJORILY improved.

From the amazon pages, it looks as if Adobe is including all of the Master Sets for free with Ultra CS3.

Exciting times for sure.

Even better than I thought, $499 for Web premium ( that's flash pro, dreamweaver, fireworks, photoshop extended and illustrator ).

Don't need premiere or aftereffects ( Vegas + Fusion kills those two, then pees on their mutilated code )

Adobe is taking pre orders at this time. I upgraded to the web premium bundle and it said the estimated ship date for preorders was April 16th.

True, for only $5,500.00 or so, except AE is still more optimized for motion graphics.

DFX+? No, sorry, doesn't compare with AE Pro. Can't do any of the HDRI work or even linear transitions, and there are a number of tasks where the new version of AE could be a better choice than either DFX+ or Fusion.
deusx wrote on 3/26/2007, 10:58 PM
Don't know what DFX+ is like these days since I use Fusion, but if it's anything like before, it's exactly like fusion , only with 8 bit color ( like Vegas ) which means it is much better than AfterEffects in most situations.

Yes, some say AE is better for motion graphics, but I say it's not.

We can't talk about Fusion and that in the same post. It would be like talking about Ferraris and Toyotas in the same conversation. Both will get you there, but that's where all similarities end and there's nothing else left to discuss.
Coursedesign wrote on 3/27/2007, 1:42 AM
A better analogy might be talking about Ferraris and moving trucks.

Which would you rather use next time you move?

Still a Ferrari, and hire movers.

Fair enough!

I still stand firm in my argument that being able to switch projects back and forth between the various Adobe Apps is a BIG plus. Sony needs an 'After Effects' or 'Fusion' that will communicate w/ Vegas. They've tried by partnering w/ Boris RED... but that interaction is half @$$ at most.

Apple comes close w/ FCP Studio... but still doesn't hold a candle to Adobe.

Don't get me wrong... Vegas is still my NLE of choice... but now that Adobe has acquired and continues to develop & support Macromedia & Serious Magic... CS3 is gonna open some creative/workflow doors for sure. Plus, it's Cross-Platform so it will be going to bed with VEGAS & FCP users.

- Being able to open a project from another App without rendering?
C'mon... you're kidding yourself if you're trying to say that won't save you loads of time.
Adobe now has an App for EVERY aspect of Media Creation. You could outfit your company w/ Adobe Apps and have every base covered from Admin, to Graphics, to Web, to Print, to Video, etc.

For those of us that do this for a living, we already know... Time is Money!

If one project pays $1,000 and you could complete it in 10 hours... why on earth would you want to spend 20 hours on it?
I LOVE VEGAS... but Sony needs to step it up to compete with the likes of Apple's & Adobe's Suites.

p.s.
I'm yet to see any Advertisements for Vegas editors... even w/ certification. But I'm always seeing them for FCP, Avid, & Premiere.

Sony... time to step it up!

Agreed but I will be the happy owner of the Master Collection as I dropped down the $1399 upgrade (i own both macromedia studio 8 and creative suite 2 and production studio.

>>>Being able to open a project from another App without rendering?<<<

Not a big deal,

Just cut everything in Vegas, click render, take a break, then do everything else in Fusion.

At the same time, adobe guy jumping between 5 apps will be tone deaf and color blind in less than 4 hours in front of his pc from not taking that render break ( a scientfic fact actually ). These are people who listen/look to their work the next day with fresh ears/eyes, and it sounds/looks very different, and they go: "WTF????"

Amen to that!

The number of mistakes we pickup remastering work is a bit of an eye opener. Even going back over work I've done a couple of weeks ago can be embarassing.

And what is so attractive about one thing that does it all, are editors good graphic artists, how good are they at mastering audio etc.

Bob.

Well, I guess its After Effects for me!!!

After Effects CS3 is going to rock hard.
Coursedesign wrote on 3/27/2007, 1:57 PM
... but won't be available for some time (September - Q4?)

Wired has a great summary of the different packages, and also great showcase examples of the new features.

Am i mis-hearing the info or is Encore now included with Premiere? So for $999.00 new or upgrade of $299.00 you also get Encore.

Oh - I see they also print the info - Create DVD and Blu-ray Discs with Adobe® Encore® CS3 software, now included with Adobe Premiere® Pro CS3.

Premiere pro CS3 includes Encore DVD CS3 AND OnLocation (DVRack 2.0 HD). Awesome deal.
