OT: ADS Pyro A/V Link driver? Win 7 compatible?

Jessariah67 wrote on 11/4/2012, 5:56 PM
Hey all,

Had to pull out my video converted that I put away when I moved to a Windows 7 sytstem a year ago. It worked without a hitch on the old system. Now, Windows doesn't recognize it at all and when I logged on and looked for drivers, it's like the company is out of business.

Is anyone using this on a Win 7 system? If so, do you know where I can find the driver for it?

Thanks.

KH

I can not answer your specific question - but I can tell you from my knowledgebase of the Pyro product line - IS that their programming code was tied to very specific environments -in other words if you had the setup for Windows 98 , that would not work in Windows XP - well, you get the idea.

The reason for such tight programming I believe was to get affordable product that would deliver well on its promises though be it based on a very narrow platform and thereby reduce development costs. Just a thought about it.

Is this a firewire device? If so, have you changed your win 7 drivers to legacy?

I doubt a simple windows setting would help. I have one of these (finally died?) and it's got a separate dip switch setting for Win98 & 2k/XP. If you had it wrong it wouldn't work.

I would of thought 2k/XP would work on Vista/7, but I guess not.

Looks like someone bought the IP & sells different products under the Pyro name. You might be SOL. :(

I guess you could have an old XP box setup to capture yout files & use a network to transfer to your editing machine.

It is firewire and has the four switches.

Where do I switch Win 7 to legacy? Is taht going to effect anything else?

Thanks.

The ADS Pyro I had was not only OS specific, it was computer specific. Only had one XP computer in the shop it would work on.
Didn't Grass Valley pick up the ADS line? Could be wrong.
