OT Am I posting too much?

BillyBoy wrote on 8/24/2003, 9:24 PM
For those that don't know I develped Bell's Palsy, mainly affected one eye, so for for about the last six weeks couldn't see well enough to do what I normally do; video editing, but its been getting better and while I still haven't done much real "work" (I'm semi-retired so not work, work) I have over the last couple weeks been posting more and more to the forums because I can make the text big enough to see it OK.

So PLEASE be honest with me, you won't hurt my feeling at all. I don't want to monopolize this forum, and a little voice I hear inside my head says I may be posting too much, so am I?

I kind of think so. Am I?

BillyBoy,

As far as I am concerned, your posts are always welcome. Even your "snotty" ones.

Nope.

(see my reply in the other thread for a longer reply).

But I have a question - and this one has been stumping me!!!

I have a video that I have been working with to burn to DVD with DVDA. It's an 1hr 13 project (so it fits nicely on disc)...that's not the problem.

Everything looks fine and dandy with the file as a stand alone MPEG - on the timeline in Vegs...everything. So I go to prepare/burn. Everything burns just peachy....

But then - I go to watch that sombytch and the audio falls out of synch at the exact moment every single time!!

Timewise...it's about at 14 minutes.

This happens if I do chapters, or don't do chapters, if it is the only video on the disc, if it is not the only video on the disc. I've split the channels (audio/video)...made the audio AC3 and a different file - same thing.

The original file I had was mpeg-1, so I rendered to Mpeg2 using Vegas templates...same thing. I'm pretty much stumped.

The last thing I tried (and I'm burning right now so I wont know until this afternoon) is....I went into the timeline in Vegas right where it always seems to drop out of synch....and just before that (a good ten seconds or so) to just after it....markered off that section and rerendered it as a separate file and brought it back in to vegas and rerenered the whole thing again.

The file rendered fine and plays fine in the media player. So I'm burning again to see if it falls out of synch at that same place. If it does - I stumped.

Any thoughts?

What may the file be you ask? Well, I'll tell ya. I have my TV/VCR/Cable system hooked up through an external digitizer to my computer and I "TiVo" some of our favorite programs. We got some Stargate SG-1 goin on...and some CSI, Law & Order and...or favorite...Dead Like Me.

The digitizer (Dazzle) makes a great high quality MPEG1 file...but I'm freakin stumped cause I've reedited, rerendered, redited, rerendered more times than I care to count.

I don't think (at this point) it is a matter of getting this particular file finished...I just don't like being stumped. There is some issue going on and I want to find out what it is ... prior to throwing my hands up and saying to hell with it.

Feedback is appreciated.

Billyboy,

Keep posting. You, like some others, e.g. Chienworks, George Ware, Rednroll, SPOT and others, take me to school. What you guys have to offer is invaluable. Keep it up and know how grateful many of us are.

If a man has something to say, he will always find an audience. Unfortunately, there are a few who have little to say, but are committed to saying it over and over again. Maybe they like to see their name in print.

Anyway, keep up the great work, and thanks.

Posting "too many" authoritative, accurate, and experience-based solutions is like having too much money. It can't happen.

Your answers are very helpful to many people.

Answer: No. You are not posting too much.

BillyBoy,

Can someone who contributes so much to the community actually post too much? I don’t think so. ;-)
