I have seen many posts on these forums regarding computer problems that end up being attributed to a poor power supply. Increasingly manufacturers (especially those of computer cases) are inserting low quality power supplies that fail after a short period of time or fail after adding a few things to the case. The companies play games with the power ratings and intentionally confuse people who don't understand them.
The Antec TRUEPOWERII TPII-550 ATX12V 550W power supply is the best on the market for the money and is available from Newegg for $74.99 after a $15 rebate.
The power supply has:
1 x Main connector (20+4 pin)
1 x 12V (P4)
7 x peripheral
4 x SATA
2 x Floppy
2 x PCI-E
It is also SLI certified, has a single large 120mm fan, and weighs a full 5 lbs.
Out of 437 voters at the Newegg site this power supply had an average rating of 5 out of 5.
