OT: Analog Capture Hardware

Does anybody have recommendations for Analog --> DV capture devices?
(Preferably: accepts RCA input, outputs DV via firewire.

I have a Dazzle 80 that does RCA -> USB but the results are terrible. I want DV output with no frames dropped.

I hear the Canopus cards are good?

What price ranges are we talking about? $100? $1000?

It works fine. It also lets me capture TV broadcasts also. It works like a TiVo. If you have a digital camcorder you can probably plug the analog outputs from your analog device into the digital camcorder and record it that way. Not sure what the All-In-Wonder cards sell for these days, probably $300 or so I would think.

The Canopus ADVC-100 is a perfect unit for this. It supports A/V -> DV and DV -> A/V, accepts composite and S-Video inputs and outputs, and also works in both NTSC and PAL (if you ever need that). It's a device that you plug in and it just plain works. List price is probably around $300, street price $225 to $250.

I hear the ADS Pyro A/V Link is also an excellent solution and is less expensive than the Canopus ADVC-100. Both are great but the Pyro is selling for $165 at amazon.com. I’m thinking of picking one up myself to replace my Pinnacle Deluxe card.
