OT: Anthony Robbin's headset mic?

Hi - I'm working w/vegas for my new videos, high energy stuff, and I want to get a headset mic just like the one Tony Robbins uses...

any ideas? it's not a shure or sennheiser, most likely a custom one, anyone have any ideas re what type of mic that one is?

it's held in place by back of head,vs top of head, boom is left-mounted... I don't even need a working one, just a prop that looks like it..

any ideas? what kind of headset mic Is that? I've looked everywhere, bhpphoto ,ebay, shure/sennheiser sites, can't find one like it..

thx,

ken

Anybody know where he gets his shirts?

yeah, similar configuration, but with a round boom, and left-mounted.. the shure ones are similar to what he uses too:

http://www.shure.com/microphones/models/wh20.asp

I'm trying to find something that looks identical.. I may need to get the shure and modify/customize it myself..

his shirts, like the ones I wear, I've seen at least a couple, are the tommy bahama silk ones (they're about $100 each, very comfortable, been wearing em for years)

yikes - that thing is huge - why would you want a big round thing at the end of your face?

I'd go for the Countryman E6 myself. you can get in skin or black I think.

What do you think: Boxers or Briefs? ;-)

Why? Do you have an overwhelming desire to look like an airline pilot that can’t find his plane? Ground control to Major Tom…

Why don’t YOU set the pace and try an Audio-Technica AT892c-TH MicroSet. You can hardly even see it next to your face as this picture demonstrates. That is sure to get people wondering how you get your great sound.

Then Tony Robbins will be posting: “Hey, does anybody know where Ken Calhoun gets his headset mic? I can even see the darn thing!” ;-)

(you know we love ya' Ken)

No comment on the mic, shirt or shorts, but I got a chuckle out of JohnnyRoy's post.

It reminded me that the video forum is not only the best place for learning anything and everything to do with editing, but at times merely reading the occasional controversial OT subjects and creative posts can inject a tad of much-welcomed humour and insightfulness into what can be a looong day sitting in front of the editing screen. Vegas Forum coffee breaks are the best:-)

rofl ... hey thanks... good idea :p will do .. thx for the links, I'll check 'em out ... reason for the wind screen, is to look like Tony Robbins or Madonna ... the "be a star" thing ...

when I use it, it's just for a prop ... to make me look all famous.. or dumb lol (!), I'll shoot some clips with/vs without, and see what looks best..

hey looks like I finally found one at bhp, something like page 41 of 44:

jr,

I am worried that 33% of today's high school students wouldn't know what to do with the ink blots that appear on the AT page you provided a link to: (MicroSet).

(That would be the percentage of HS students who in a recent study couldn't find a certain fairly large country on a world map.)

:O)

(The Norwegians have it easier. There is no other country on their world maps :O).

hey but Norwegian blonde chicks are cool I think .. though I've regrettably never dated one..

ok just bought it, just $87 direct from the company that also lists them on amazon, at:

http://www.fullcompass.com/Products/pages/SKU--045356/index.html

I'l llet you know how it goes... apparently it has a T4M connector, so I'll need to figure out how to get a preamp for it to connect to the camcorders' 1/8" input jack .. or likely just use my shotgun mic on the camcorder (or hide a lapel mic somewhere in my collar) and this thing is just a prop..

Tandy use to sell a two radio system with a boom mic that a HUGE foam windsock on it. Guess I'm a bit late telling this. Used to cost around $20 for the whole, I've used it ona sports field but no way would I want to record through the thing, would be OK as a prop.

I almost wet my pants when I saw that one. Should have seen it coming. Whoa… what was that… I swear I just saw Amelia Earhart zoom past my window! (3, 2 and even, over and out)!
