Having had a short play with JVCs HDV camera offerings to date, give it a miss. More problems than it's worth. Maybe the Sony version will perform better, maybe even well enough for serious consideration but so far this all seems very much aimed at the consummer market.
Of course I could be wrong and Sony's HDCAM line is about to become obsolete but I'm doubting it.

:-)
Sony's HD cam line is FARss from going obsolete. After spending a weekend with the Xpri team....damn, wish I could afford one of these.
Sony's got a new HDcam, no body, for about 15K. With body and a special Canon lens, should be able to do HDCam for around 45K or so. Was a very sexy setup. Coupled with Xpri...Wow.

Thanks guys,

The Sony camera's are a bit out of my price range. Heck, 45K is out of my price range for an automobile!!!

I'm looking for a prosumer type camera like the Cannon GL or XL series or the Sony VX series and thought the JVC might be in the same league even though it does not have 3 CCD (It has a Hybrid progressive 1/3). What I really like about it is the pivoting grip alowing the operator to go from shoulder to hip or even to the floor without removing ones hand from the controls.

Anybody else have any experience with this JVC camera or know of a un-biased review on-line?
