OT: Anyone ever use Olympus VN-960PC?

Hi Kids -

Getting ready to record my own wedding (April - yes it's the triumph of hope over experience) and will have others with video cameras plus a tripod mounted camera as well, on top of the stills from the photog.

Question I have is I have very little $$$ left for toys and wanted an inexpensive but decent quality voice recorder to wear to get the ceremony audio. I was looking at the Olympus VN-960PC ($63 on Amazon including shipping) along with a Giant Squid mono mike ($30).

Does this sound reasonable and has anyone had really bad experiences with either one?

Thanks

Bruce

I’ve never used a voice recorder and don’t know what the quality would be since they only need to record vocal frequencies. I would get an iRiver instead. The iFP-790 or iFP-890 series both have mic inputs. I have a 790 and it sounds great with the Giant Squid mic. Lot’s of event videographers over at VideoUniversity.com swear by them which is what lead me to buy one.

Do I translate that correctly to mean, “against your better judgment” ? ;-)
