OT: Anyone know why my new USB drive is not showing up?

I just purchased a new ACOMdata USB 2.0 120 GB External Hard drive. I plugged it in and Windows XP recognized it and installed the drivers. I can see it in the device manager but it doesn't show up as a drive on my computer.
I'm running:

Computer: Sony VAIO RZ30C
Processor: Pentium 4 (2.6 GHz)
OS: Windows XP Pro
Hard drives: 2-120 GB
I have a DVD writer in one bay and a CD writer in the other bay. (I'm wondering if I have too many IDE devices running--My windows troubleshooter said something about 4 devices being the max)

If I'm running too many IDE devices then I think that's my problem. Does anyone know a way around that?

Thank you.

That's not your problem.

Is the drive partitioned and formatted? Have you checked it in the computer management control panel?

It shows up as disk 3 in the management control panel. I formatted it and I can open it up. I am currently copying files to it but it still doesn't show up as a drive in my computer.

Thanks for the help. I think at least I can access it through the manager.
