Phantom's been around for years... where have you been?

Well it's not anywhere close to my price range so I never paid attention to it.
I just saw this the other day, thought it had some crazy stats.
Never said it was a new brand on the market!
Relax a bit bud.

I'm very relaxed. There's some very cool cameras out there at the upper ends.

Check out:

Dalsa Origin (recently discontinued)
Silicon Imaging SI2K
Thompson Grass Valley Viper
Panavision Genesis
Sony F35
Arri D21
and the new Arri Alexa lineup (3 cameras)

The new Alexa's are going to be .... spectacular! THAT is a camera I wish I could save up for.

Cool I'll check them out.
Sorry man, I guess I just read into your reply like I'm stupid for not knowing phantom cameras.
PerroneFord wrote on 3/12/2010, 8:27 AM
No no... wasn't like that at all.... More like DUUuuuude! There's a TON of cool cams out there.. where ya been?!

If that makes it any clearer! LOL!
L8R wrote on 3/12/2010, 8:37 AM
Yep got ya now!
I'll have fun checking those out. Here I'm cursing when I have to drop $7000 on a camera no less $118,000. No wonder movie production costs into the millions with prices like that.

Dude, that's just the camera. Did you price the recording magazines?

Abel Cine Tech rents the Phantom HD Gold at $2500 a day:

The RED is $1200 a day
RED with the new chip is $1400
SI2K is $1200
EX1 is $450

LOL.... wow!
Crazy!
PerroneFord wrote on 3/12/2010, 10:05 AM
This of it this way...

If you had an EX1, and rented it at industry prices, after 15 days of rental costs, it would be paid off.

If you bought a RED and rented it at industry prices it would be paid off at 30 days of rental use.

Ya.... you know. ..I think they might be onto something....
Plus too if it gets broken... guess who's paying for it?
hmmm
