OT-Apex 1200 DVD Player and SVCD?

I've been looking at these Apex players because they are inexpensive and the word on the street is that they will play just about anything you can put in the tray.

Currently, a local retailer is advertising the AD-1200 for $57.
However, the specs on apexdigitalinc.com do not specifically say this model will play SVCD, although other models do. Any experience with this particular player/format? I am in the U.S.

Oh, another ? Are Apex and Mintek the same thing?

I have this player and it plays anything I put in it. I think it would play card board almost. It's not as pleasing a picture as my Pioneer but it's perfect for testing as well. If your worried, burn one and take it with you to the store and see if it will play it. I'not sure about Mintek?

Also look here http://www.vcdhelp.com/dvdplayers It shows it will play SVCD's all the way up to 4600kbps
