Absolutely! I'm sure the Madison folks have already seen what Magic Bullet did with nVidia cards....

A 5x speed improvement over the fastest system money can buy? Back in the days of general purpose CPUs vs. DSP (Digital Signal Processor) specialized CPUs, I might have believed that. However, now that modern CPUs have added many optimizations to handle repetitive floating point number crunching (which is where the DSP architecture was optimized), I am just a little incredulous that the finished product would be able to get an improvement anything nearly this fantastic. Even 2x would be pretty amazing to me.

Of course, if it is real, I will buy it. And if it is real, and another application supports it and Vegas doesn't, I will drop Vegas.

5x speed improvement would change everything. But, like I said, I don't think I'll have to make any changes.

I realize speculation like this is similar to the "xbox render farm" thread a few days ago. Pure speculation from people who don't know the code. But an educated guess says that Vegas could be made to take advantage of a GPU, and that if 5x is being demonstrated in alpha code, perhaps 2x or more is achievable in production code. Again, all speculation, but with a higher percentage of confidence....IF Sony chooses to implement it in Vegas, of course.

Perhaps after they see Apple demo it in Final Cut Pro 6 at NAB this spring...
