just got my v1, and posted this question to my first line of defence (offence) bob, who drew a blank, and to dvinfo, where it also seems to have caused some confusion:

on my old 150, then my 170 i could direct mic to ch 1 and 2, and leave ch1 on auto, and adjust ch 2 manually. i don't seem to be able to do this on the v1?

been through the menus, selected separate, but no luck. looks like in the manual they're saying i have to have both channels on manual? rather defeats the purpose in some ways...
