OT: Avid aquires Pinnacle

Very interesting things happening. 1st Pinnacle adds Steiny, Sells Steiny to yam, now Avid aquires Pinnacle.

Not to mention what has happened in the SF/Sony camp.

Direct Avid competition w/Vegas to the general public on the consumer level. Maybe Sony will have to develop a DAW platform? I guess they're big enough to not worry??

I think that AVID could really use some help in the audio arena...
It's pretty funny that AVID did not get their hands on the VST technology license. The missed a HUGE HUGE cash cow.

AVID is Digi , Digi is AVID. If you look at who runs AVID, it is the old Digi guys. AVID has all the audio technology they need in Digi.

Exactly. I was thinking that if AVID did anything, they would closet Nuendo. Their are probably more opportunities for integration with how things turned out.

btw, just got around to installing 5d, hopefully we will see some leaps for us audio guys in the next incarnation.
