"Known as Beards and Hats because of the many Hasidic Jews who work there, B&H has become an authentic New York experience. Shopping there is akin to ordering a pastrami on rye at Katz's Delicatessen."
Ive never been to B&H but if I ever do, I am assuming I should leave all cash and credit crads at home otherwise I would walk out with A LOT of stuff and end up being broke. Kind of like a kid in a candy store yeah?
Yes, it very much is like that. You will go in for a cd envelope and decide that you need a new fluid-head tripod, new cases for everything, a better headphones and a telescope. And that's only because you were in a rush.
First time I went there, what stroke me the most was seeing all these camcorders displayed the "usual way" on vertical poles with heads so you can have a look. Except this time , it went from the tinyest cam you can find up to the Sony 790 at the other end of the line, on its own pole too. Holy !!!!
If you guys like deli, try Harolds Deli in Editson, NJ (in Raritan Center). Started by the same guy who started several famous deli's (Carnegie & Stage were two).
Order the Corned Beef & Pastrami on Rye - if goes for what you might think as a bit much (around $30) but that's only until you see the sandwich - without exageration it is over one foot tall! Must be at minimum three pounds of meat on the plate! Try the Whitefish salad sandwich (not platter - just sandwich) and it comes with FIVE bagels, at least two pounds of whitefish salad, about a pound of cream cheese, an enough salad for a herd of bunnies! Everything else there is just as big (the apple turnovers were larger some than full blown bakery cakes and the cakes are a foot and a half tall!).
