Just checked my email and got two "critical patch' warnings. One from some dope going by the name mail scanner, another pretending to be from Microsoft security.

Microsoft NEVER sends email warnings. NEVER. Its a scam to no doubt give you a Christmas present of a trojan or worm.

Especailly at this time of year everybody is busy and may click on things without thinking. Don't, or you may be sorry.

Have you ever gotten the Citibank one? The entire email is actually a hypertext GIF file of an email from Citibank. If you click anywhere at all in the email (not just the phony link) you are sent to a web site that tries to steel your identity. Luckily, we deleted it before clicking anywhere. I always use ZoneAlarm Engage Internal Lock feature before clicking on any email that looks suspicious. This way even if its an advertisement that reports back to the home site when a clear.gif is loaded, that doesn’t happen. I get to delete it before it ever gets to the Internet.

Good and timely warning for some!

I got the blaster virus last this year and had to take my computer to the shop and have it removed.
Now I have my email program set up so that any mail that's bulk, spam or not on my list goes directly into the trash can. Seems to be doing the job.
