that's interesting. It's some of the "duh" advice people need to hear! :D

I especially agree with a firewall that allows only GOOD programs out. I had one of those once. Was nice: everything had to ask my permission before it could go in/out. Some programs I'd give it an "always yes" to because I trusted those programs, some I'd block out right (like outlook).

EDIT: on number 2 again, I'm reminded of a computer game that didn't have ANY online security at all. Why? Because if the data going between computers didn't match up, it didn't count EITHER of them. So if you tried to cheat (by having faster nuke's for example) it wouldn't work: the other computers would say "that's wrong" & ignore the data. If everybody had the cheat then it would work, but if everybody's cheating it's not an advantage any more, is it? :)
