OT: Best way to use laptop as a video monitor?

Hey all,

I'm traveling soon and I want to use my laptop as a video monitor for a Game Cube. The laptop only has firewire for video in. I've gotten it to work using my camera to convert the Game Cube's NTSC video output to firewire and using Vegas video capture to show the video.

But, the resolution is kinda poor. I think because the video capture application isn't intended to be used for what I'm doing. The image is very pixelated.

Is there a way to make video capture show the image crisply? Or is there another program out there that would work better?

Thanks!

David

Try getting a card &/or cable set with TV in, a TV tuner card, USB or firewire video in box or cable (not for capture at full DV bitrate, but for watching TV). All sorts of stuff available, lots of it pretty cheap. Think companies like Dazzle, SiiG, Adaptec, ADS, D-link, Aiptek (spelling?) all make products like this.
