OT Bluff EPS with Corel Trace

Rory Cooper wrote on 8/12/2009, 10:01 PM
for logo or brand extrusion in bluff you need EPS , not all will work
in COREL DRAW open bmp = convert to B\W then open trace and trace from centre line

now I have to go and click on all the individual traced paths ..once highlighted copy past that back in Corel and export as eps

now Bluff will read and extrude it

in Corel TRACE why can’t I just simply select all and export from there? if I do Bluff can’t read the EPS

what other solutions are you guys using for BLUFF EPS generators? that work in Bluff

I can't help you directly, only from my experience of other extruders.
To extrude something it must be comprised of closed vectors, no bitmaps, shading etc.

One solution I did play with is to use height maps instead of an extruder inside Bryce and Daz Studio. A very frustrating experience but maybe if you've got the time and the inclination it could be worth exploring, no money involved so worth a shot.

Rory,
Thanks for all your free .vegs.

I don't have bluff and I don't know if this will help but, what I do to get an eps out of corel trace is.

Open the bmp in CorelDraw (right click for trace)
Convert to b/w in trace
Trace from center line
file>save trace results> (as .ai(Adobe Illistrator))
import file into CorelDraw
then select the object and export selected only to .eps

This way I can ungroup all layers or objects that the trace made.
I hope this helps.

Tollaksen thanks that might do the trick and save some irritation and time

will get back to you on this

I normally use Boris RED. but Bluff animation is so much quicker and it gets the job done the only drawback is mapping faces is not as good as Boris RED

Rory,

I am glad I could help. I no longer feel as much as a thief for using all your vegs in my work and shamelessly taking the credit.(LOL)

The CorelDraw suite is quite a robust program.
