OT Camera prob - have you seen this?

Camera: PD170 (which I love)
Yesterday and again this morning, we started to shoot (in a swamp) and had a multi-colored ghosting. It was essentially a magenta image and a green green image about 1/3rd the screen apart from each other.
At first we thought it was a condensation problem. We let the camera sit for an hour, applied head cleaner for 5 seconds and the camera worked fine all day.
Today, the problem reappeared twice during the course of shooting, and AFTER we had already shot for an hour or so - doubt it's condensation anymore.
Any thoughts, before we return camera to Sony/

I think it's a nasty electronics problem, I'd be sending it back.
Possibly the harsh environment has caused some damage to a PCB, just a very wild guess.

I have Zero clue, never seen a problem like that, but WHEW - that's nasty, sorry to hear you're havin the trouble though.

Vic, looks like the blue CCD sensor side is having problems. Since the sensor is clocked, it could be a simple fix, but repair will probably replace the ADC electronics and drivers. But the CCD is probably ok, just the support electronics will be replaced.

OF Course, it could be a ghost from the swamp, inducing terror into your happy PD170 relationship!

Any condensation problems I've had with my PD170 have sometimes resulted in drop-outs, obviously not even close to your ghosting image.

I aslo suspect it's electronic, but hope you'll let us know what caused it when you find out . Good luck.

If you are still shooting in a swamp,, I would't rule out condensation. If you arent ?????? Big bill from Sony

Nasty........
I had a drpped camera and it was moisture on the prism.
There was a post a few days ago about Sony extending their warranty.
