OT: Can I share hard drives with a Mac system?

A friend gave me a LaCie external firewire enclosure containing her 120GB hard drive that she uses on a Mac platform. I plugged it into my XPpro firewire port, and although the PC says the LaCie device is connected, no disk shows up with a drive letter.

Can this hard drive be shared with my PC?

sure -- use macdrive or any number of such products mentioned here and elsewhere many times ..

You make make things easier with fat32 HD formating. Mac and PC can access that without special soft. Otherwise, you need a Mac HFS file opener utility for PC like Conversion Plus or others.

Thanks to all for the feedback. I downloaded MacDrive and I now see the files. I brought one over to the desktop, tacked an ".avi" extension on the end of it, and it imports into the Vegas timeline. Funny thing is that Vegas threw up a little note about building a proxy audio file because working with the original file would be too taxing. I never saw a note like that before. Anyway, it plays fine.

If only all the other issues on this board could be solved so readily.
