OT: Canopus ADVC110 dipswitch question

Former user wrote on 7/15/2007, 10:28 AM
I have a question about the set up of the dip switch on the ADVC110. I am capturing NTSC from VHS. If I have the #5 switch on 7.5, the device acts as if there is an AGC on the video. At scene changes, it will adjust a bit. If I set it to 0, it does not do that.

Which setting is the correct one?

Thanks for your help.

well dude, there are 2 NTSC options, but he 110 only supports one of them (by memory i think its NTSC 4.43... i could be wrong..) in regards to the dips, id recomend u check the manual for the correct chain of configuration.. its been 2 yeas since ive touched one of these so i cant say for certain so i wont say anything

Thanks. But the manual is very unspecific. It says if you are using capturing NTSC video in the US, you would use 7.5ire (which is what I would expect). But when using the 7.5 ire switch, it acts like an AGC. The video level will fluctuate. With the switch set to 0 ire, the video does not fluctuate, but of course the black level seems high when converted to DV.

I sent Canopus a support request. Maybe they will fill in the blanks.

I will look at my dip switch setting when I go home.

However mine is set, I have never had a problem with level fluctuation.

The reply from Canopus was to set it to 0 if I am using DV footage with other analog. No explanation of the video level fluctuation though. Maybe it is a hidden feature. :)

Thanks for checking and letting me know Jeff9329.
