OT: Catalyst Prepare crashes Windows 10 - clock_watchdog_timeout error

For those using Catalyst : I've recently had this issue arise while converting video clips on my desktop machine. I'm converting my clips to MXF within Catalyst 2015 and even with the latest update, it crashes my whole computer going to BSOD with this error message: "clock_watchdog_timeout". I can convert clips with AME CS6 with no problems.

Any suggestions what might be going on?

Thanks @Grazie - I've posted there as well but thought since many are using it here to prep files for editing in Vegas, I'd try here - didn't know about the SONY Prefessional Products Forums...

As soon as I saw "clock_watchdog_timeout" in your message, I immediately thought of Intel Watchdog Timer.

After I upgraded to Windows 10 from Windows 7, on my 2011 home built computer, I then did a complete clean install of Windows 10.

I had a few Driver compatibility problems, due to the age of my Motherboard. Asus had no updated Drivers suitable for Windows 10 and my Motherboard, so I installed all the Motherboard/CPU drivers using Windows 7 compatibility mode - this worked perfectly.

Finally, I went into the Windows Device Manager panel and manually checked for Updated Drivers for every single item. It took a long time, but I was surprised with the amount of new Drivers that were found. I'm sure this had a positive effect on my system stability. I have no idea if this is related to your problem, but thought it was worth mentioning.

If you want to investigate this further, the main item a suggest you check is System Devices inside of Device Manager. Right-click each item and select Update Driver, then Search Automatically.

I think I discovered the culprit - my EVGA x58 motherboard has a "DummyOC" feature in the bios and my CPU is slightly overclocked - but I forgot to disable turbo mode and thru trial and error once I disabled that - Catalyst so far seems to be working as it should be. FYI...
