Just got a feedback from support at Canon. I ased 'em why they didn't give the necessary codec with the software when we buy these cameras so we wouldn't have to buy a third-party codec to be able to view our video shots in NLE systems.

The answer:

"All we can do is forward your request and your message to sales dept.

Don't know if it's gonna change something...
