Very very cool...

Always ALWAYS love seeing new plug-ins for Vegas. ( Hear that Sony ?)

Just curious how this one compares to the Adam's Edge Detection plug-in ?

Not familiar with that one. Got a URL?

Link to Edge Detective

Hmmm. No credits listed, but maybe this is Adam Woodworth's edge detection plugin finally "commercially released". http://www.mirkwood.com/vegas/edge/. Looks like a nice plugin.

This is indeed what started out as Adam's Edge tool, but has been debugged, has a lot more features than the original, added algorithms, colors, alpha pass, overlay, and a lot more. It's also very light on the CPU, making it pretty fast to work with/preview.
It's a lotta fun to work with, especially if you use a duplicate of one piece of media over another and add a .010 blur, and push the colors. We'll have some tutorials up in a day or two.

Typically the VASST tools offer full operation for a few days, and then are disabled until you buy the license.

This plugin is fun! It's almost like instant animation.

There is a tutorial for Edge Detective that you can read if you'd like to see more stills of how it works. Thanks to Busterkeaton for the tutorial.

It is indeed very cool. Glad I happened upon this thread.

Just licensed my 12-hr-old demo version. Thanks, VASST. I'll be checking back regularly.

I certainly see where this would be quite convenient to have as a single plugin. However, out of curiosity I copied the source photo of the car from the VASST web site into Vegas, applied Convolution Kernel + Black and White + Invert + Brightness and Contrast, and came up with something that is pretty close to their final image. But time is money, and spending $39 on something that saves you a few minutes is probably worth it.

Actually, to approximate the look of Edge Detective, you need Levels, Convolution, unsharp mask, and threshold, and even then, it's still not as accurate or detailed, not to mention the hit on your proc. Edge Det has algorithms not found in Vegas, hence the differences, but more over, Edge Detectiive runs very light on the CPU as opposed to using the four plugs in a chain.
