OT: copyright "?" (it's short-don't freak :)

Just wondering if anyone knows if you use copyrighted materials in your production and copyright it yourself, can you do that, and actually have it copyprotected?

You did actually make the video - or the audio, or whatever part of it that wasn't previously copyright protected. Is there some kind of percentage thing that applies?

Just curious - we should not let this go crazy here please. Thank you.

It's no different than with a book, CD, or other compilation of previously copyrighted works.
The original holders of the copyrighted content retain their ownership of the copyrighted content, while the producer of the compilation owns copyright to the compilation, just not the content of the compilation.
