OT: Create Trapcode "Light Stroke" in V5 ???

Okay, I know that AE is on sale right now, and that it's all the cool plug-ins that give it the pizzazz that it has, but is there any way to create these kinds of moving light strokes in Vegas 5 with the tools it already has? If anyone has any suggestions (besides saying buy AE and Trapcode LOL!!!), then please explain how I might be able to simulate this effect even if it's semi-close looking.

looks good, theres also afew cloud elements whch are really good for sky shots,
but particle illusion is a faster and more versatile tool... (not including AE of course.. ) these types of effects and more are easily created without the need to fiddle with composites..
