OT: Damn NTSC

Just wanted to share my grief. First off I left Vegas rendering overnight converting PAL to NTSC, except this dumb Aussie forgot to tell Vegas to render as NTSC instead of PAL. Woke up to find a nights sleep was wasted.
So another 5 hours later I finally have my NTSC DV file and start PTT (VHS), half way thru the client turns up despite me telling him not to come until called. Anyways I says I'll courier it to him. So I race out to buy a courier satchel and when I get back VHS machine has run out of tape!
Oh yeah, another small oversight, 1:56:00 of NTSC doesn't fit onto a 2 hour PAL tape now does it! SO go find a 3 hour tape and start PTT again, by now I've missed the courier!
And this was a job I took on for next to nothing, 18 hours rendering with a median FX to get rid of noise, in total around 24 hours of CPU time.

There, I feel better already.

Bob.

. .and I thought I was the only numbnutz! . . .Biggest screw-ups for me? Well the old ones .. Fogeting to flick the switch on my Senni mic - AND I WAS WEARING cans too! . .. Thinking the tape was rolling, but I'd put it in PAUSE; Setting Manual Focus and THEN turing it off . . that takes some doing . . . somebody take over . . I'm feeling sick again . ..

Well I'm back to editing / mixing something I shot a few weeks ago and I'm really starting to see the advantages of having more than one body to do these kinds of things. It was a stinking hot day and we had to keep all the windows and doors closed to keep the noise out. I was so busy driving the camera and the audio gear and cope with how the talent wanted foldback that I didn't focus enough on the directing part.
So this guy hits the last note and the jumps up from the piano, might be impressive I've you;re live but NOT a good look when you're trying to to cut songs together.
But I have to say having even half decent audio gear makes a HUGE difference to the sound you can get. For one of the numbers due to a scew up on my part I've had to use the camera audio, that's when you really notice the difference.
