OT: Dazzle DVD Complete prices

Hey,

Now that I have the cool CenDyne 105 from Staples that was mentioned on this list, I've been researching authoring software.

I've settled on DVD Complete from Dazzle because of the ones I've looked at (MyDvd, DVD Workshop, DVD Movie Factory 2) it's the only that doesn't seem to alter the video.

The program itself also seems to be fast and effecient, which fits well with my predilection for Sonic Foundy products.

The best, bottom-line price I've found is 76.99 from Amazon. Anyone know of a better deal?

David

Have you considered waiting for DVD Architect?

Waiting .... "I hate waiting."

You, know, I actually haven't evaluated DVD Architect because I expect the price to be over what I'm wanting to pay ($100). And it doesn't do SVCD.

Perhaps I should be more patient.

I've read several places that DVD Complete is one of the better low price burners; but I have had good luck with DVD Workshop if you want a more powerful product. If your files meet DVD specs and you check "Do not convert complient files," DVD Workshop does not transcode video or audio.

I have pre-ordered VV4 w/DVD Arc. from South Harbor Computers for $450 ($150 less than expected street price), because I think the ability to import markers as chapter points is a big bonus...and I really like spending my money on Sonic Foundry stuff - Good Software - Gooooood. Kevin.

Take a look at Pinnacle DV Studio. I got a copy at a local store for $50 and it came with a $50 rebate (net cost $0) and it, imo, is better than DV Architect feature wise. It has lots of templates (instead of 3), handles TOCs on VCDs and DVDs and allows chapter points, etc. I'm sure there are better programs, but for the price this was a real find. I'm a little disappointed with DV Architect. SoFo still doesn't have a decent VCD solution. I know that there is not a big market for VCD, but it still does exist and I still need to use it.

Tserface: Are you sure you're not referring to "Studio8?" StudioDV was the precursor to Studio7, and Studio8 is the successor with added DVD authoring capabilities. I used StudioDV and Studio7 a lot, and they are great, easy-to-use NLEs, though somewhat buggy. Can't hold a candle to VV3/4 in features, however.

dmcmeans,
I use Dazzle DVD Complete Deluxe and I'm reasonably happy with it. Good value for the price. If you do in fact buy it you will want to do some updates on it.
Good Luck
Mark
