I'm still trying to find a replacement or a place to get Riteks!

Jay,

I've never seen Meritline out of stock:

Greg, thanks, but that link was for CD-R media, not DVD-R media.

Ridata & Ritek are the same right? I buy them at www.supermediastore (i but the +r's, but they have -r's too).

Oops, sorry Jay, I didn't read your post very carefully. Here's some Ritek DVD-Rs, which you've probably found clicking around:

Steve and Greg, your input is greatly appreciated. By the time you two had posted, I had already ordered from the vendor Jason suggested. They're on the east coast, as I am, so it probably saves a tad in shipping.

Yes Meritline and Supermedia have links to the media, all nice and shinny, BUT they are out of stock and have been for weeks.

At least for 4X Ritek White Printable DVD-Rs.

I'm a little leary about yet another online store but I'll also give that other vendor a try. Thanks All!

Happily there seem to be plenty down under ....

I'd be interested to compare prices - I just bought 50 Printable Ritek DVD-Rs at A$1, which is currently about US 78 cents.

What sort of deals are you guys getting?

Peter's right, down here we seem to be swimming in cheap DVD-Rs!
My mate bought 100 for $50 yesterday, the guy in the shop was convinced there were only 50 on the spindles but ah, well there's 100! Mind you, you don't even get a brand name on them, still I guess if 60% of them are OK you're still in front.
I just wouldn't be putting anything on them you want to be able to play in a few years, you might be lucky and you might not.

Peter, when they're in stock, I can get 100 Ritek white printable DVD-Rs for U.S. $69.50 from Supermedia Store. Most of the time that includes free shipping.

"I'm a little leary about yet another online store but I'll also give that other vendor a try."

I can vouch for Marc at Genesys DTP, he's a great guy, they always have competeitive prices and he ships within 24 hours of placing an order. I purchase pretty much all my supplies from them, CD-R's DVD-R's, sleeves, cases, mailers. I've been using them for a little over a year now and haven't had any problems.
jsteehl wrote on 6/22/2004, 12:38 PM
Ok, I'm tired of waiting I'll give Genesys a try.

Somebody watch my back I'm giving my CC to some stranger :)
Jsnkc wrote on 6/22/2004, 1:04 PM
You don't have to worry....I haven't had any strange charges on my CC since I've been using Genesys DTP. They are a legit company :)

100% satisfaction on resellerratings.com I know they don't have a lot of ratings, but that's still pretty good :)

Well, Brian, so far I haven't had any such experiences as those discussed in the thread you provided. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

I too found it very strange that I could not find any in-stock from the usual places I buy from.

I prefer that brand as I know they work in my burner (and never had a single return) and the printing surface is better than others I have tried (optodisc and others).
BJ_M wrote on 6/22/2004, 1:52 PM
there is a lot of conflicting info -- i am staying out of it from now on ..

Jay Gladwell wrote on 6/22/2004, 2:09 PM
Well, Brian, I can't say one way or the other, but I hope that isn't the case. If it is, both Ritek and Supermedia Store have lost me as a customer. Guess I'll have to resort to buying more expensive media and, as usual, passing the price increase along to the customer, much as I hate to.

I posted the information above in Supermedia Store's forum. It'll be interesting to see that the outcome is!
