Steve and Greg, your input is greatly appreciated. By the time you two had posted, I had already ordered from the vendor Jason suggested. They're on the east coast, as I am, so it probably saves a tad in shipping.
Peter's right, down here we seem to be swimming in cheap DVD-Rs!
My mate bought 100 for $50 yesterday, the guy in the shop was convinced there were only 50 on the spindles but ah, well there's 100! Mind you, you don't even get a brand name on them, still I guess if 60% of them are OK you're still in front.
I just wouldn't be putting anything on them you want to be able to play in a few years, you might be lucky and you might not.
Peter, when they're in stock, I can get 100 Ritek white printable DVD-Rs for U.S. $69.50 from Supermedia Store. Most of the time that includes free shipping.
"I'm a little leary about yet another online store but I'll also give that other vendor a try."
I can vouch for Marc at Genesys DTP, he's a great guy, they always have competeitive prices and he ships within 24 hours of placing an order. I purchase pretty much all my supplies from them, CD-R's DVD-R's, sleeves, cases, mailers. I've been using them for a little over a year now and haven't had any problems.
I too found it very strange that I could not find any in-stock from the usual places I buy from.
I prefer that brand as I know they work in my burner (and never had a single return) and the printing surface is better than others I have tried (optodisc and others).
Well, Brian, I can't say one way or the other, but I hope that isn't the case. If it is, both Ritek and Supermedia Store have lost me as a customer. Guess I'll have to resort to buying more expensive media and, as usual, passing the price increase along to the customer, much as I hate to.
I posted the information above in Supermedia Store's forum. It'll be interesting to see that the outcome is!
