Nope. Nearly impossible.

However, if you want to try an experiment ... Load the track onto two audio tracks in sync with each other. Set one to Channels / Left Only and the other to Channels / Right Only. Invert the phase one one of the tracks. Render to a new Mono file.

This will cut down on any sound that's dead center in the stereo mix. Since in lots of pop music the lead vocal is usually panned center it may help cut down the lead. It may not do much though especially if there is reverb. It won't touch anything panned more than a little to either channel such as back ground vocals. It will also drastically alter just about everything else too. But hey, it's free to try.

I've tried Cheinworks suggestion before and usually the result sucks badly...all center information is gone, like kick/snare drums, and bass. I had really good luck with a couple old Beatle songs though. Tunes from back in the old 4-track days when they would put drums & bass in one speaker.

Thanks for your help. The singer was removed... and the beat but still good
enough until the artist releases an accompaniment track.
