Just noticed a deal on bfads.net where you can pick up a Dell Dimension 531 Desktop, WITH a 24" LCD screen and a $100 gift card for $659. It says that only the first 4000 buyers will get the deal. Pretty good price if anyone needs an upgraded system with a nice monitor.
the 2407wfp-hc has severe ghosting, like real bad that appear under normal circumstances in every day use. I had mine for 2 months before dell said started taking them back for full refunds. once my refund came in I ended up getting a lg 246
[The Entry model doesn't have this problem, but it has all the problems of TN monitors.]
Better to spend $350 on a Westinghouse 24" LCD at Newegg, adding $59 for a 3 year warranty extension. See previous posts here on this monitor, it is outstanding.
> Better read the fine print, Dell makes more than one 24" LCD.
Interesting that you bring this up because it is far worse than that. They make more than one 24" LCD with the exact same model number!!!
While searching for reviews on the Samsung 215TTW monitor because it's has an S-PVA panel which was recommended in this thread, I came across a review of 20" monitors on www.behardware.com where they clearly stated in their review:
Dell doesn’t need us to the point that they chose to do something that seems completely incomprehensible to us. They have kept the nasty habit of changing the panel depending on their stocks. You can buy a monitor equipped with a specific panel, but it won’t be the same the next month.
I would be very weary of Dell because you have no idea of what quality you are buying.
That should get a national award for most consumer-disrespecting sneakiness of the year.
Before this, the only thing you had to worry about with Dell was getting the right version of each screen ("e.g. "A04" instead of "A03" which had major problems).
